What is an active vs a passive observation?
Wi-Fi Data scan data - known as an observation, can be acquired passively or actively.
Passive Observation
If an Observation Endpoint is not associated with a tenant (ie a company) that owns the Asset that is detected, it produces a passive observation. This ensures that all tenants benefit from other companies' Observation Endpoints, while keeping the source of the observation anonymous to ensure the highest privacy.
Active Observation
If an Observation Endpoint is associated with a tenant (ie. a company) that owns the Asset that is detected, it produces an active observation. With active observations, the source of the observation (the "observation source and its id) is shared to aid in proximity awareness of assets.
