Why have I not seen any detections of my tag from the Troverlo Global Observation Network?
The Troverlo Global Observation Network is constantly growing but occasionally a tag will not be detected if no devices in the network are nearby.
One of 2 things could be happening:
- The Global Observation Network detections haven’t been sent to Troverlo from the applicable observation partner yet – and they will show up here soon; or
- It’s possible you just happened to not pass by one of our partner devices on Friday – this could be possible since our observation network is still in its relative infancy. It has around 15M devices and observation data being delivered anywhere from “same-day” to 3-4 days later. This observation network will grow substantially over the coming months. In addition, the new observation partners that we are targeting will also provide data on a more real-time basis. So not only will coverage improve but also the timeliness of the data.
For reference, the primary two factors in a tag being detected by the observation network are:
- Density of other people (devices)
- Time of exposure – i.e. the longer the tag is running, the more likely it is to be detected
